Custom Orthotics
Shoe inserts that help realign your foot so it functions in a better position. Custom orthotics are made to a mold of your individual foot and should easily transfer to most sneakers and casual dress shoes. They have been shown to reduce muscle and tendon fatigue, which can lead to pain.

Diabetic Shoes and Inserts
Diabetic shoes are shoes specially made for patients with foot problems that accompany diabetes, such as swelling, peripheral neuropathy, and musculoskeletal deformities, such as bunions or hammertoes. These shoes must meet specific government guidelines based on shoe depth, materials, etc. in order to qualify. The insoles are made with materials designed to reduce friction on the skin and have been proven to prevent skin breakdown and open wounds.

X-rays
Digital X-rays are available in the Centerville office for patient convenience to evaluate for bone and joint conditions.

Ultrasound
While x-rays are good to examine bones and joints, ultrasound is a good tool to help diagnose injuries of the soft tissue, such as plantar fasciitis, tendon injuries, and soft tissue masses. This service is available at the Centerville office for patient convenience.

Non-invasive Vascular Testing
For patients who are having symptoms of circulatory problems in the legs and feet, such as cramping, color changes of the skin, and cold feet, a vascular study called and Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) can be performed in the office. This test is useful to diagnose early peripheral vascular disease. Studies are performed using the SMART-ABI.

Epidermal Nerve Fiber Density Testing (ENFD)
For patients who are experiencing symptoms of prolonged tingling, burning, or numbness in their legs and feet, this test is useful to help determine the integrity and density of the nerve fibers in the lower extremity. The lower the density (or number) of nerve fibers within the skin, the more advanced the disease. This test is an alternative to an EMG, or nerve conduction study, and is much faster to perform, thus being more cost effective and convenient to the patient.
